David Painter took his seat in January 2017 and is currently serving as the Vice President of the Board of Clermont County Commissioners. Commissioner Painter serves on numerous boards including:  President, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI):  the National Association of Counties (NACo) Board of Directors;  Chair of the National Association of Counties (NACo) Environment, Energy, and Land-Use Steering Committee; the County Commissioners Association Board of Directors;  a member of the Area 12 Work Force Investment Board of Directors (WIBBCW); he is a member of the Western Ohio Regional Advisory Board; and a current Member of the Ohio Criminal Sentencing Commission having been appointed by the Ohio Governor.   In addition, Mr. Painter serves on the CCAO Taxation & Finance Committee and General Government Committee.  He is committed to reducing the impacts associated with the Ohio Opiate Crisis serving on the Clermont County Addiction and Recovery Partnership (CARP) and the Ohio Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.  He previously served for eight years on the New Richmond Village Exempted School District Board of Education, two of those as President of the Board.  Previously he was on the Ohio Township Board of Zoning Appeals.

Mr. Painter’s past experience includes 40 years in the construction and engineering business for numerous federal and private agencies, having held positions of resident construction manager, project oversight manager, regional manager, and general manager. Mr. Painter joined the Board of Clermont County Commissioners after stepping away from his career in private industry, where he last served as the project oversight manager at the East Tennessee Technology Park Environmental Remediation Project in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.  Mr. Painter helped lead the Clermont Economic Development team to success in creating the first Southwestern Ready Ohio Certified Industrial Site.  The site creation has resulted in Nestle Purina building a new $550M manufacturing plant at South Afton Industrial Park in Clermont County.    In addition he lead the way for Design Within Reach to relocate their business to Clermont County building a 617,000 ft.² distribution facility to serve the eastern seaboard area.  Recently his experience in private business partnerships resulted in the Hamilton Safes $17M manufacturing facility within Clermont County.  Mr. Painter’s mantra that “Governments don’t create jobs, businesses do” explains his economic philosophy to developing sites to allow a competitive atmosphere and open market zone where businesses can compete on a level playing field.  He is committed to effective budget control and cost performance monitoring.   He strongly believes that government business can be conducted at the same speed and efficiency of private business.

Mr. Painter is a lifelong resident of Clermont County.  He and his wife, Karla, have been married for over 42 years and have resided in New Richmond, Ohio all of their lives.  Mr. Painter, Karla and their three children are all graduates of New Richmond High School in Clermont County.  They have five grandchildren with one on the way.

Mr. Painter received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio.
